OICL AO Selection Process 2026

Candidates go through three stages before final selection:

  1. Preliminary Examination: An objective test covering Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English. Candidates who clear the Prelims cut-off qualify for Mains.
  2. Main Examination: Has two parts an Objective Test (Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Professional Knowledge) and a Descriptive Test (Letter Writing and Essay Writing). Candidates must clear the minimum qualifying marks in each section of the Objective Test to be considered for the Descriptive Test and Interview.
  3. Interview: Roughly 3 times the number of vacancies per category/stream are called for interview based on Mains performance.

The final merit list is prepared using 80% weightage to the online test score and 20% weightage to the interview score. Descriptive Test marks are qualifying in nature only and are not added to the final score or used for interview shortlisting.

Category-wise (UR/EWS/OBC/SC/ST) qualifying marks for the Prelims and Mains Objective Test sections are not specified in the official notification.

Stage 1: Prelims Exam Pattern
