The number of seats indicated is tentative and may increase or decrease in the relevant categories at the absolute discretion of the management, in compliance with the Presidential Directives on reservation at the time of engagement. IOCL Paradip Refinery Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have already passed the prescribed qualification as on the date of reckoning eligibility criteria (30 June 2026). Candidates awaiting results are not eligible to apply.
  • The prescribed qualification for Class XII/Graduate/Diploma holders must be from a recognized Board/University/Institute as a regular full-time course in the relevant trade/discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST and PwBD category candidates against seats reserved for them).
  • Where CGPA/OGPA or Letter Grade is awarded, the equivalent percentage must be indicated as per the norms of the concerned Board/University/Institute, with a supporting conversion certificate furnished at the time of document verification.
  • For ITI qualification in the relevant trade, eligibility is pass marks; only a regular full-time ITI course recognised by NCVET/SCVT is considered.
  • Diploma/Graduation/ITI in branches other than those specified against the respective trade/discipline are not considered eligible.
  • Candidates holding qualifications acquired through part-time/correspondence/distance education mode are not eligible.
  • Under Code 110, only “Fresher Apprentice” candidates (non-graduates who have not undergone any institutional or skill training before taking up on-the-job training) will be considered.
  • Under Code 111, candidates must possess a Skill Certificate in ‘Domestic Data Entry Operator’ for training of less than one year, issued by a body recognised under the National Skill Qualifications Framework or by the Central Government.
  • Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA, or equivalent (completed on or before joining), are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have completed five years after acquiring the prescribed qualification, as on the date of reckoning eligibility criteria, are also not eligible.
  • Candidates applying for more than one trade/discipline will not be considered, and such applications will be summarily rejected.

Eligibility for Candidates with Prior Apprenticeship Training

Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act in a different trade/discipline are eligible for engagement, subject to the following conditions:

  • A minimum gap of one year is required as on the date of reckoning eligibility criteria, from the date of completion of previous apprenticeship training.
  • If the previous training contract was terminated due to failure on the part of the employer, no gap is required.
  • If the previous training contract was terminated by the candidate due to health, financial hardship, relocation, transportation, career changes, or language barrier, a minimum gap of three months is required (no waiting period for women).
  • Candidates whose previous apprenticeship contract was terminated due to the candidate’s own failure to carry out contract terms are not eligible.
  • Preference is given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age is 24 years as on 30 June 2026, for General/EWS candidates. The Marksheet/Certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education for Matriculation (Class X) is the only acceptable document for age proof.

  • Stipend: The rate of stipend payable to apprentices per month shall be as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973/Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and the Corporation’s guidelines. The specific stipend amount is not mentioned in the notification.

IOCL Paradip Refinery Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

There is no written test for this recruitment. Candidates registered on the NAPS/NATS portal and applying against the notification shall be considered for selection as follows:

  • Selection is based on the percentage of marks in descending order (aggregate of marks of all subjects across all years/semesters) obtained in the prescribed qualification applicable to the trade applied for, and meeting the notified eligibility criteria. Preference is given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
  • In case of a tie in percentage of marks, the candidate senior in age (date of birth) shall be placed higher in the merit list. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage in Matriculation shall be considered.
  • PwBD candidates who have availed relaxation in eligibility qualification marks will be considered against reserved seats, irrespective of their position in the overall select list (in order of merit within the category).
  • Filling up of seats is solely at the discretion of the management based on suitability of candidates; no claim will arise if seats remain unfilled due to unsuitability or insufficient candidates.

Candidates shortlisted based on their position in the merit list, and subject to the number of seats in the respective trade/discipline, will be called for Document Verification. Candidates selected as apprentices must also fulfil the minimum physical fitness standards specified under the Apprentices Act, and only those declared fit in the pre-engagement medical examination shall be considered for final engagement.

IOCL Paradip Refinery Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Reservation for PwBD Candidates

PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) candidates can apply against identified seats under Codes 102, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, and 111 only. IOCL Paradip Refinery Apprentice Recruitment 2026: How to Apply Online

Candidates must have a valid and active Apprentice Registration/Enrolment Number on the NAPS/NATS portal, with a 100% correctly updated profile. A candidate can apply for apprenticeship in only one trade/discipline of their choice. Completing both steps below is mandatory:
