Eligibility Criteria for IAF Agniveervayu Musician Recruitment 2026

Nationality

Open to Indian candidates from all districts of all States and all Union Territories of India.

Educational Qualification

Passed Matriculation/10th or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Central, State or Union Territory Government recognised School/Board, as on the date of registration.

Marital Status

Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry during the four-year engagement period; violation leads to dismissal from service. Female candidates must additionally undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement period.

Musical Proficiency Requirements

Musical ability is a mandatory qualifying requirement in addition to the educational qualification.

  • Candidates must have proficiency in music with accuracy in tempo and pitch, and must be able to sing one complete song.
  • Candidates must be able to perform one preparatory tune and demonstrate knowledge of a notation system (Staff notation, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani, or Carnatic).
  • Candidates must be able to tune individual instruments (where applicable) and match unknown notes on vocal or instruments.
  • Candidates must have proficiency in playing at least one instrument from List A or List B below. It is desirable (though not mandatory) to have proficiency in two instruments – one from each list.

Musical Experience Certificate

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

  • Grade 5th or equivalent (or above) in one instrument from a recognised music institute such as TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory Bangalore, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI, or Berklee School of Music, OR
  • A Diploma or equivalent in music for candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical Music from any recognised university, OR
  • Certificate of participation/awards presented at various events (applicable for candidates performing on blowing instruments with staff notation as per the educational QRs).

Candidates with a history of LASIK/PRK surgery will not be accepted. Body tattoos are permitted only on the inner forearm, back (dorsal) of the hand, or as per tribal custom; offensive/obscene/indecent tattoos anywhere on the body are disqualifying. Consumption, possession, storage or distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is a reject criterion, and the IAF follows a zero-tolerance policy on alcoholism and substance abuse.

Salary and Pay Package

Agniveervayu (Musician) will be paid an Agniveer package of ₹30,000 per month in the first year, with a fixed yearly increment, along with Risk and Hardship allowances, Dress and Travel allowances, and perks such as ration, clothing, accommodation, and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) as per existing rules.

Total contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund after four years is approximately ₹5.02 lakh from the Agniveervayu’s own contribution, matched by approximately ₹5.02 lakh from the Government of India. On exit after four years, this totals approximately ₹10.04 lakh as the Seva Nidhi package (excluding interest). There is no Provident Fund contribution requirement, and no gratuity or pensionary benefits are applicable.

Agniveervayu will also be provided non-contributory Life Insurance cover of ₹48 lakh for the duration of the four-year engagement period.

Selection Process

Selection for Agniveervayu (Musician) Intake 01/2027 involves the following stages, conducted in sequence:

  1. Verification of Eligibility Documents – original or DigiLocker-verified educational certificates and other applicable documents are scrutinised at the rally venue before the Physical Fitness Test.
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I) – 1.6 km run: within 7 minutes for male candidates, within 8 minutes for female candidates.
  3. Physical Fitness Test (PFT-II) – conducted after 10 minutes of recuperation:
    • Male candidates: 10 push-ups (1 minute), 10 sit-ups (1 minute), 20 squats (1 minute), with rest breaks between each exercise.
    • Female candidates: 10 sit-ups (1 minute 30 seconds), 15 squats (1 minute), with rest breaks between exercises.
  4. English Written Test – objective type, 30 questions, 30 minutes duration, based on Matriculation/10th CBSE syllabus. Candidates must qualify this test. Answers are marked on an OMR sheet, and results are declared the same day.
  5. Music Proficiency Test (MPT) – candidates who qualify the English written test undergo a proficiency test in playing musical instruments, conducted individually or in groups.
  6. Medical Examination – conducted in September 2026 at 11 AFH, Hindon and SMC, AF Station Jalahalli, including blood, urine, biochemistry, chest X-ray, ECG, and (for female candidates) ultrasonography of the lower abdomen and pelvis.

Marking Pattern for English Written Test

  • 1 mark for every correct answer.
  • 0 marks for an unattempted question.
  • 0 marks if more than one answer is given for a question.
  • No negative marking for a wrong answer.

Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40 through e-MRO/MRO, within three working days of the medical examination.

Required Documents for the Recruitment Rally

  • Musical instrument (from List A or B) for the practical test
  • HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler, and black/blue ball point pen
  • Colour printout of the Provisional Admit Card
  • Colour printout of the duly filled application form
  • Eight recent, un-attested passport size colour photographs (with candidate holding a black slate showing name and photo date in white chalk)
  • Original or DigiLocker-verified printout and four self-attested photocopies of Matriculation passing certificate and mark sheet
  • Original and four self-attested photocopies of the Musical Experience Certificate
  • Children of Air Force Personnel (COAFP) Certificate, or Service Book/Discharge Book/Casualty Service Certificate, as applicable (original and four self-attested photocopies)
  • NOC from employer, in original and four self-attested photocopies, for candidates serving in a government organisation (if applicable)
  • Discharge Certificate, original and four self-attested photocopies, for candidates discharged from Indian Army/Navy/other Government organisation
  • Body tattoo photographs (close-up and distant view), if applicable
  • NCC ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’ Certificate, original and four self-attested photocopies (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar Card (or other valid photo ID for candidates from J&K, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya)
  • Signed Consent Form for PFT and Medical Tests (parent/guardian signature required if the candidate is below 18 years of age)

Candidates cannot appear in the rally without original educational marksheets/certificates, except where a Principal’s certificate confirms the originals are deposited with the college/institution, or where DigiLocker-verified certificates are produced along with an accessible mobile device.

How to Apply for IAF Agniveervayu Musician Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official CASB recruitment portal: https://iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in.
  2. Step I – Registration: Enter personal and contact details and click “Generate OTP.” OTPs are sent separately to the registered mobile number and e-mail ID; enter both to verify.
  3. Agree to the terms and conditions, re-verify the entered details, and click “Submit.” A User ID and password will be sent to the registered e-mail ID and mobile number.
  4. Click “Go To Application” to proceed to Step II.
  5. Step II – Filling the Application: Complete Personal details, Communication details, Qualification details, Declaration, and upload the required documents/images (photograph, signature, parent’s signature if below 18, left thumb impression, and a live image capture for photo matching).
  6. Preview the filled application, correct any errors, and click “Submit.”
  7. Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₹100 plus 18% GST via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
  8. Print and retain the submitted application form (PDF) for future reference.

Candidates must indicate two choices of rally venue in order of preference during registration; however, CASB reserves the right to allot a venue irrespective of the candidate’s preference. Each candidate may apply only once – multiple applications with different registration numbers will be rejected.

Important Instructions

  • Registration is online only; no offline mode is available.
  • Mobile phones, smart watches, and electronic devices are strictly prohibited in testing areas; candidates found with such devices will be permanently debarred.
  • Candidates must not write or mark anything on the Provisional Admit Card, failing which they will be permanently debarred.
  • No bribe or payment is required at any stage of selection; candidates should be alert to impersonators and fraudulent agents.
  • The Provisional Select List (PSL) will be valid for six months from the date of display and applies only to Agniveervayu (Musician) Intake 01/2027.
  • Inclusion in the PSL does not guarantee enrolment; enrolment is strictly merit-order, subject to medical fitness, vacancy availability, and the 22-year age cap at the time of enrolment.
  • Any corrigendum or update will be published only on the CASB web portal – not in newspapers or other media.
