UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit & Pay Scale

Age Limit: The maximum age of applicants as on 31.08.2022 must not exceed 62 years. Applications will not be submitted if date of birth is not mentioned or the candidate is above 62 years on 31.08.2022.

Pay Scale: ₹15,600 – ₹39,100 with Grade Pay of ₹6,000, along with allowances as permitted by the state government from time to time.

UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Educational Qualification

The essential qualifications for the post of Assistant Professor/Assistant Acharya B.Ed. are as follows (as per NCTE Regulations 2014 and UP government order):

Option 1:

  • Postgraduate degree in Science / Mathematics / Social Science / Humanities with minimum 55% marks
  • AND M.Ed. with minimum 55% marks

OR

Option 2:

  • Postgraduate degree in Science / Mathematics / Social Science / Humanities with minimum 55% marks
  • AND Postgraduate degree in Education (M.A. Education) with minimum 55% marks
  • AND B.Ed. degree or equivalent with minimum 55% marks

Additionally (for both options):

  • National Eligibility Test (NET) in Education conducted by UGC

OR

  • Ph.D. or D.Phil. in Education from a University that has obtained the degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009/2016

UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Reservation Rules

Only candidates who are original domicile residents of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Freedom Fighter Dependent/PwBD reservation benefits. Candidates from other states will be treated as General (UR) category. Key rules include:

  • Candidates claiming more than one reserved category will be given only one concession – whichever is more beneficial.
  • For OBC reservation, the candidate’s parents/family must normally reside in UP and the individual or their family should belong to UP’s listed OBC categories.
  • Female candidates’ caste certificate based on their husband’s caste (for SC/ST) will not be accepted; only the caste certificate based on the father’s side will be valid.
  • PwBD (Physically Handicapped) candidates must produce a certificate issued by the competent authority specifying the percentage of disability.
  • EWS candidates must ensure their Income & Asset Certificate is issued in the prescribed format on or before the application closing date.
  • Government employees must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer before applying. The NOC need not be submitted initially but must be produced at the time of interview.
  • Candidates married to a person who already has a living spouse are not eligible unless exempted by the Governor.

UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

Selection is based on two stages – Written Examination and Interview:

Written Examination (200 Marks):

  • Objective-type question paper covering General Knowledge (60 questions) and Subject-specific questions (140 questions)
  • Total marks: 200 (General Knowledge: 60 marks + Subject: 140 marks; each question carries 2 marks)
  • Total: 30 General Knowledge questions + 70 Subject questions = 100 questions
  • No negative marking
  • The syllabus for the subject-specific test is available on the UPSSSC portal under the “Examination” section

Interview / Assessment (30 Marks):

  • Candidates shortlisted based on written exam scores will be called for departmental interview and assessment

Final Merit: Written Exam (200) + Interview (30) = 230 marks total

Candidates scoring equal aggregate marks in the merit list will be resolved by giving preference to the older candidate (by date of birth).

Preference (Adhimanta) for College Allotment: At the time of interview, shortlisted candidates must submit their online preference/priority order for college allotment. The order of preference given by the candidate is binding. Male candidates must not indicate women’s colleges in their preference order; doing so will make them personally responsible for any resulting discrepancy. Female candidates may indicate preference for both types of colleges.

UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Instructions for Reserved Category Candidates

  • All UP-domicile reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) must mention their category in the application.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates must obtain caste certificates in the formats provided in Annexures 1 and 2 of the notification from competent authority by the last date of application.
  • EWS candidates must produce an Income & Asset Certificate as per Annexure 3, issued by District Magistrate, Additional DM, SDM, Tehsildar, or Pargana Magistrate.
  • PwBD candidates must ensure that the certificate specifies the percentage of disability clearly and is in the prescribed format (Annexure 4) issued by the medical board.
  • Freedom Fighter Dependents must have their claim supported by a certificate in the Annexure 5 format.
  • Once the application form is submitted (“Submit” pressed), no changes in category, gender, date of birth, or other details will be permitted.
  • Applications without the prescribed photograph size or signature will be cancelled.

UP Assistant Professor B.Ed. Recruitment 2026 – Written Exam Instructions

  • Exam date, venue, and timing will be communicated via SMS, email, newspaper, and the commission’s website. Candidates must appear at the allotted exam centre only – no changes in exam centre will be permitted.
  • Candidates must bring a black ball pen to the exam hall and fill OMR sheets with black ball pen only. Other colours of pens, fountain pens, gel pens, sketch pens, pencils, and whitener/correction fluid are strictly prohibited.
  • Visually impaired candidates can avail Scribe facility as per UP government order no. AI0/210789/2022/65-3099/135/2022 dated 08 September 2022. The scribe’s educational qualification must not exceed Intermediate level. Candidates using a scribe will be given 40 minutes of extra time. Candidates who need a scribe must register with the commission office at least one week before the exam.
  • Use of unfair means or misconduct during examination will result in cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations.
