Subject-Wise Answer Key Explained

UGC NET is conducted across 87 subjects, and NTA releases the answer key separately for each subject and shift. Candidates must check the answer key that corresponds to their specific subject code and exam shift, since the correct answer options can differ between subjects even for common Paper 1 questions shared across sessions.

Marking Scheme & How to Calculate Probable Score

  • Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
  • There is no negative marking in UGC NET.
  • To estimate your score, match your recorded responses against the answer key and multiply the number of correct answers by 2, separately for Paper 1 and Paper 2, then add both totals.

Example: If a candidate answers 40 questions correctly in Paper 1 and 70 correctly in Paper 2, the probable score would be (40 × 2) + (70 × 2) = 220 marks, subject to the final answer key.

To qualify UGC NET, candidates must secure at least 40% aggregate marks (General category) or 35% (reserved categories), in addition to meeting other eligibility conditions.
