KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  • For Kalyana Karnataka local cadre posts (KSRP, KSISF, IRB), candidates must possess a valid local candidature certificate as per the Karnataka Public Employment (Reservation for Local Candidates in Hyderabad-Karnataka Region) Rules, 2013, issued under Article 371(J) of the Constitution.
  • A woman candidate who has more than one living spouse, or a male candidate married to a woman who already has a living husband, is not eligible unless prior permission has been obtained from the Government.
  • Candidates must be mentally and physically fit and free from any defect that could interfere with the efficient performance of duties.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC or possess an equivalent qualification. As per Government Order No. 81 dated 27.02.2018, the following qualifications are treated as equivalent to 2nd PUC:

  • Class 12 examination conducted by the CBSE or ICSE boards.
  • Class 12 examination conducted by the education boards of other state governments.
  • Higher secondary education courses/certificates conducted through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • A one-year vocational/ITI course after SSLC combined with a pass in one PUC subject through NIOS, provided the candidate has passed at least one language subject and one technical/vocational subject (as detailed in the official notification).

As per Government Order dated 06.08.2021, private study courses are recognised for equivalence only if they were approved by the concerned university at the time of admission, and such equivalence is verified against University Grants Commission (UGC) records.

As per Government Order dated 30.09.2021, a three-year diploma pursued after SSLC from a recognised technical education institution is treated as equivalent to PUC. Candidates who completed such a diploma from institutions recognised before 2015, and who did not study Kannada as a subject, must clear the Kannada language qualifying exam conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

Note: The prescribed qualification must have been obtained on or before the last date fixed for submission of applications. Qualifications obtained after this date will not be considered. All candidates must additionally hold a Kannada language qualification at least up to the 12th standard/PUC level, unless exempted under the Kannada-medium study or Kannada-language-exam provisions described in the official notification.

Age is calculated as on the last date fixed for receipt of applications (10 August 2026). Fee must be paid online only; fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. For the Kalyana Karnataka notification, candidates may submit a single combined application for KSRP, KSISF, and IRB posts since all three share one written exam paper. The applicable fee above is charged for the first post selected; an additional ₹100 is charged for each extra post/category selected within the same application.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

  1. Written Examination: Offline OMR-based exam on General Studies and Mental Ability – 100 questions, 100 marks, duration 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio per category/post, based on written exam marks, undergo height, chest, and weight measurement.
  3. Physical Endurance Test (PET): Qualifying in nature; no marks are awarded for PET, but candidates must clear the prescribed run, jump, and shot-put standards.
  4. Medical Examination: Conducted by a Medical Board on vision, hearing, and other physical fitness parameters.
  5. Final Merit List: Prepared based on written exam marks of candidates who qualify PST, PET, and the medical test.

Negative Marking

0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. If a candidate marks more than one answer for a question, or erases/overwrites an answer such that it becomes legible only after being read within 5 minutes of the OMR sheet being read by the scanner, it is treated as a wrong answer and 0.25 marks are deducted; if the erasure is illegible, no deduction is made for that question.

Medical Test Standards

  • Vision: Distant vision – better eye 6/9, worse eye 6/9 or 6/12; Near vision – better eye 0/6, worse eye 0/8.
  • Hearing: Rinne’s Test, Weber’s Test, and Vertigo tests; failing any of these tests results in disqualification.
  • Varicose veins and speech impediment are disqualifying conditions.
  • Chest X-ray and any other tests recommended by the Medical Board will be conducted.
  • Disqualifying musculoskeletal deformities: Knock knees, flat foot, bow legs, Cubitus Valgus, and Cubitus Varus.
