Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
The candidate must be a citizen of India, or possess nationality as per Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Educational Qualification
- Passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination from a Secondary/Higher Secondary Education Board, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government; and
- A minimum one-year Sanitary Inspector’s Diploma Course from a Government-recognized institution; or
- A minimum one-year Certificate of Health Sanitary Inspectors from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or any other Government-recognized institute; and
- Basic knowledge of Computer Application as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967; and
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.
Candidates without a basic computer knowledge certificate at the time of application may still apply, but must submit proof of having passed a basic computer knowledge test before appointment, failing which their selection will be cancelled.
Age Limit
As on 15/09/2025, the candidate’s age must not be less than 18 years and not more than 33 years. Upper age limit may be relaxed for candidates already in Gujarat Government service, as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Salary / Pay Scale
- Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000 for the first five years, along with other benefits as per applicable Finance Department resolutions.
- After five years, subject to satisfactory service, candidates become eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission scale of ₹25,000 to ₹81,100 (Level-4), subject to the outcome of Supreme Court SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.
- For candidates appointed at Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation specifically: they will not be treated as Gujarat Government employees, and after three years of satisfactory service become eligible for the same 7th Pay Commission Level-4 scale (₹25,500–₹81,100 per the corrigendum).

Selection Process
Selection is through a single-stage competitive exam conducted in CBRT/OMR (Computer Based Response Test / Optical Mark Recognition) mode, comprising objective MCQ-type questions, divided into two parts:

- Combined duration for Part A and Part B: 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted per wrong answer.
- Qualifying standard: minimum 40% in Part A and minimum 40% in Part B, independently, for all categories.
- Candidates scoring the required qualifying marks will be shortlisted for document verification, called at approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies.
- Final selection/waiting list will be prepared based on merit within the category-wise vacancies.
Additional Merit Benefits
- Widow candidates: 5% additional marks on the exam score, provided they have not remarried at the time of appointment.
- Sportspersons: 5% additional marks for candidates who represented at national/international, inter-university, or All India School Federation level in specified sports (athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, judo, rifle shooting, kabaddi, kho-kho, archery, equestrian, shot put, rowing, chess, handball).
Required Documents

- Recent passport-size photograph (white background, dated within 1 year of the last application date) and signature, in the prescribed dimensions
SEBC Candidates – Non-Creamy Layer Certificate
Certificate in Gujarati format (Annexure-4), based on income for financial year 2023-24/2024-25/2025-26, obtained on or before 26/07/2026 – or a certificate in Annexure-A format under Government of India provisions, obtained between 01/04/2026 and 26/07/2026. Age relaxation applies only if one of these is submitted.
EWS Candidates – Income and Asset Certificate
Certificate in Annexure-KH (English) or Parishisht-C (Gujarati) format, obtained between 27/07/2023 and 26/07/2026 – or a certificate based on financial year 2024-25 income, obtained between 01/04/2026 and 26/07/2026. Certificates issued for Gujarat state scheme benefits will not be accepted for this purpose.
How to Apply
- Visit https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in and click “Online Application” → “Apply”, then select GSSSB.
- Click “Apply Now”, then “Skip” to open the application format; fill in Personal Details (fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory).
- Fill in Educational Details.
- Accept the declaration (“Assurance”) and click Save to generate your Application Number.
- Upload your photograph (5 cm height × 3.6 cm width) and signature (2.5 cm height × 7.5 cm width) in JPG format, each under 15 KB.
- Click “Confirm Application” – once confirmed, no further edits are possible.
- Note the Confirmation Number generated; this is required for all further steps.
- Download and print a copy of the application form for your records.
- Pay the applicable examination fee online by 29/07/2026 (11:59 PM) via Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallet, and save the payment receipt.
Candidates should submit only one application. If multiple applications are submitted, the last confirmed application (with fee paid) will be considered valid, and earlier ones will be cancelled; fees paid on cancelled applications will not be refunded or adjusted.
Important Instructions
- Category (caste) details cannot be changed once the application is confirmed.
- Details filled in the application will be treated as final for the entire recruitment process and must be supported by original certificates at the time of verification.
- Foreign university degree holders must submit UGC equivalence proof at the time of certificate verification.
- The same photograph must be used throughout the recruitment process (exam attendance sheet, certificate verification, etc.).
- Keep the mobile number and email ID provided in the application active throughout the recruitment process, as SMS alerts will be sent.
- No waiting list will be prepared, as per General Administration Department resolution dated 27/07/2018.
- Malpractice, impersonation, or use of unfair means during the exam is punishable under the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, in addition to disqualification.
- Scribe/compensatory time facility (20 minutes per hour) is available for eligible PwD candidates on request, submitted at least two days before the exam via email to [email protected].
