A total of 100 vacancies have been announced under the Health and Family Welfare Department. The category-wise breakup is as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India or possess a nationality as permitted under Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Gender

Only male candidates are eligible to apply. Women candidates cannot apply for this post, as per General Administration Department notification dated 11/11/2014.

Age Limit

As on 31/07/2026, candidates must be not less than 18 years and not more than 33 years old.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

• Completed a minimum one-year Multi-Purpose Health Worker basic certificate or diploma course from a government-recognized institution; or
• Passed a minimum one-year Sanitary Inspectors Diploma Course from a government-recognized institution; or
• Passed a minimum one-year certificate course of Health Sanitary Inspectors from an Industrial Training Institute or other government-recognized institute; or
• Passed the diploma of Sanitary Inspector or Health Sanitary Inspector from a University established under a Central or State Act, or an institution deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

Candidates must also possess basic computer application knowledge as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. Candidates without a computer certificate at the time of application may still apply, but must produce proof of passing a basic computer knowledge test before appointment; failure to do so will lead to cancellation of selection.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will initially be appointed on a fixed monthly pay of ₹26,000 for the first five years. On satisfactory completion of five years’ service, candidates will be eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission pay scale of ₹19,900 to ₹63,200 (Level-2), subject to the outcome of SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 pending before the Supreme Court.

Application Fee

Fees must be paid online only (Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallet) by 03/08/2026, 11:59 PM. The exam fee is refunded to candidates who appear for the exam; it is non-refundable for candidates who do not appear.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection is through a single-stage objective MCQ examination (CBRT/OMR mode), divided into two parts, with a combined duration of 3 hours (180 minutes).

There is negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer. The minimum qualifying standard is 40% in Part A and 40% in Part B independently, for all categories. After the exam, GSSSB will publish a provisional answer key, followed by a final answer key after considering objections. Candidates whose Part-A and Part-B scores meet the qualifying standard will be ranked by total marks. Approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies will be called for document verification, after which the final selection list and waiting list will be prepared.

How to Apply Online

1. Visit https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Go to “Online Application,” click Apply, and select GSSSB.
3. Click “Apply Now,” skip the One Time Registration prompt if not needed, and fill in Personal Details (fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory).
4. Fill in Educational Details.
5. Accept the declaration under “Assurance” and click Save to generate an Application Number.
6. Upload photograph and signature in JPG format (photo: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width; signature: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width; each file under 15 KB).
7. Click “Confirm Application,” verify all details carefully, and confirm. No changes are allowed after confirmation.
8. Pay the application fee online before 03/08/2026.
9. Download and print the application form for your records.

Reservation for Ex-Servicemen and PwD Candidates

Ex-servicemen are entitled to 10% horizontal reservation. Those who have served at least 6 months in the Army, Navy, or Air Force and hold a valid identity card and discharge book get an additional 3 years of age relaxation beyond their service period. Ex-servicemen retiring within one year of the last date of application can also apply.

No seats are reserved for PwD candidates in this notification, but disabled candidates whose disability type matches the eligible categories for this post (as listed in the official notification) may apply against unreserved posts and are entitled to 10 years of age relaxation (maximum 45 years), subject to a medical certificate from a Superintendent/Civil Surgeon. Eligible candidates who cannot write may apply for scribe or compensatory time facility by emailing [email protected] at least two days before the exam.

Important Instructions

• Only one application per candidate is allowed; if multiple applications are submitted, the last confirmed and fee-paid application will be considered valid.
• Category (caste) details cannot be changed once the application is confirmed.
• Original certificates must match the details filled in the online application; discrepancies will lead to rejection at any stage, including after selection or appointment.
• Passing the exam does not guarantee appointment; the appointing authority’s satisfaction is final.
• Use of unfair means during the exam is punishable under the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023.
