CERT-In Scientist-B Vacancy Details 2026

A total of 133 vacancies have been notified across three disciplines. The number of advertised posts is tentative and may increase or decrease at the sole discretion of CERT-In.

*Note: SC and OBC(NCL) figures for CS and DA disciplines include backlog vacancies – 1 SC and 3 OBC backlog post in CS, and OBC(NCL) backlog in DA (exact backlog count for DA not specified beyond the note).

CERT-In Scientist-B Eligibility Criteria 2026

Nationality

• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal, or
• A subject of Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
• A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (certificate of eligibility required for categories other than Indian citizens)

GATE Score Requirement

Candidates must possess a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in the paper code corresponding to their discipline. Equal weightage is given to GATE 2024, 2025, and 2026 scores.

CERT-In Scientist-B Educational Qualification

Computer Science and Information Technology (Paper Code: CS)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (minimum four-year course) in disciplines such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Software Systems, Cyber Security, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Digital Forensics, IoT, Quantum Computing, Blockchain Technology, Machine Learning, Cloud Security, Cryptography, or any other relevant discipline where the qualifying degree names Computer Science/IT/Data Science/AI as the main discipline, OR
• Master’s Degree in Science disciplines such as Computer Science, Computer Application, or Computer and Network Security, OR
• Master’s in Computer Application (MCA)

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (Paper Code: DA)

Master’s Degree in Science disciplines including Software System, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Informatics, Information System, Information Security, Cyber Law, Computational Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Advance Network, Cryptography, Machine Learning, Cloud Security, Digital Forensics, Big Data Analytics, IoT, Quantum Computing, or Blockchain Technology.

Electronics and Communication Engineering (Paper Code: EC)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (minimum four-year course) in Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation, Drone Technology, Autonomous Systems, or any relevant discipline where “Electronics” is the main discipline, OR
• Master’s Degree in Science disciplines such as Electronics, Applied Electronics, VLSI Design, Digital Communication, Mechatronics, Robotics and Automation, Drone Technology, or Autonomous Systems

The essential qualification must be obtained on or before the cut-off date. No claim of an “equivalent” qualification will be entertained. No prior work experience is required for this post.

CERT-In Scientist-B Age Limit 2026

Age is calculated as completed years on the cut-off date (17.08.2026). Additional age relaxation of 5 years applies to candidates serving in Government Organizations in the same or allied cadre where prior service would be useful for the advertised post. Age relaxation for PwBD candidates applies irrespective of whether the post is reserved for them, provided the post is identified as suitable.

CERT-In Scientist-B Salary 2026

The post of Scientist-‘B’ carries Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), with a pay scale of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500. Details of allowances (DA, HRA, TA) are not specified in the notification.

CERT-In Scientist-B Application Fee

The application fee is Nil for all categories – no fee payment is required for this recruitment.

CERT-In Scientist-B Selection Process 2026

1. GATE Score Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:5 (discipline-wise and category-wise), based on GATE score merit. All candidates with a tied score at the cut-off rank are shortlisted.
2. Document Verification: Conducted before the interaction/interview. Candidates who fail to appear with original documents are not eligible for further stages.
3. Personal Interaction/Interview: Maximum 50 marks, assessed on Technical (Academic) knowledge, Presentation/Communication Skill/Comprehension, and Academic performance (0.05 mark per percentage in the qualifying degree).

Final Merit Weightage

Minimum Qualifying Marks in Interview

• Unreserved (UR): 50%
• EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwBD: 40%

Candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be considered for the final merit list, irrespective of GATE score.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

1. Higher GATE paper score ranks higher
2. If GATE scores are equal, higher marks in the Technical (Academic) knowledge section of the interview ranks higher
3. If still tied, the older candidate ranks higher

• Recent coloured photograph (JPEG/JPG, 50KB–200KB)
• Scanned signature in blue or black ink (JPEG/JPG, 10KB–50KB)
• Date of Birth proof (Municipality certificate or Matriculation/High School/SSC certificate)
• Photo ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, EPIC, or other government ID)
• Matriculation and Senior Secondary certificates
• GATE Score Card (2024/2025/2026, as applicable)
• Essential qualification certificate and marksheet
• CGPA conversion certificate (if applicable)
• Category certificate – SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS (if applicable)
• PwBD certificate with minimum 40% permanent disability (if applicable)
• Experience certificate (if any)
• No Objection Certificate – NOC (if applicable, per Annexure VII)
• Age relaxation certificate (if applicable, per Annexure VIII or IX)

All documents must be self-attested, legible when printed, and not password-protected.

2. Step 1 – Registration: Register with a valid email ID and active mobile number
3. Step 2 – Fill Online Application Form: Complete the application and upload all required documents
4. Step 3 – Download Confirmation Page: Submit the form finally and download the Confirmation Page – the application is treated as complete only after this step

No changes to name, category, address, mobile number, or email ID are permitted after submission. Aadhaar-based authentication will be used at every stage of the recruitment process.

Important Instructions

• Qualifications through Open Universities/Distance Education must be approved by the Distance Education Council and, where necessary, AICTE, as per Gazette Notification No. 44 dated 1 March 1995
• Candidates working with Central Govt./State Govt./PSU/Autonomous bodies must furnish an NOC confirming no pending disciplinary/vigilance case
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending document verification or interview
• Interviews will be conducted at Delhi or another location/mode approved by the competent authority; no request for postponement or change of location will be entertained
• Candidates must validate their GATE score on the GATE Results portal on the day of interview/document verification using their own GATE login credentials
• Court of jurisdiction for any dispute is Delhi
