KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Candidate must be mentally and physically fit to discharge the duties of the post.
  • A male candidate with more than one living spouse, and a female candidate married to such a person, is not eligible for appointment unless specifically exempted by the government.

KREIS Teacher Educational Qualification (Subject-wise)

  • Kannada Language Teachers: Graduation with Kannada as an optional subject in the Arts stream from a recognized university, or the four-year “Kannada Pandith” course from the Karnataka State Pre-University Education Board, together with a Kannada B.Ed. degree; or a Bachelor’s degree with Kannada as an optional subject plus a postgraduate degree in Kannada.
  • English Language Teachers: Graduation with English as an optional subject in the Arts stream, or a postgraduate diploma in English from a Regional Institute of English in South India, together with a B.Ed. with English as the primary method subject; or a postgraduate degree in English with Kannada studied as one subject up to degree/PUC/SSLC level, or a Karnataka Pre-University Education Board/Kannada Sahitya Parishat Kannada proficiency certificate (Kaav/Jaan/Ratna), or a Diploma in Kannada.
  • Hindi Language Teachers: Graduation with Hindi as an optional subject and a B.Ed. degree; or a postgraduate/graduate degree with Hindi as the major subject along with a B.Ed. with Hindi as method subject, in addition to a Kannada language proficiency requirement (Kaav/Jaan/Ratna certificate from the Karnataka Pradha and Praudha Shikshana Parishad/Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Bengaluru, or Kannada studied as a subject up to degree/PUC/SSLC level, or a Diploma in Kannada).
  • Mathematics Teachers: Graduation in Science with Mathematics and Physics as combined subjects, with one additional optional subject (e.g., Chemistry), together with a B.Ed. in the Science method; along with the same Kannada proficiency requirement as above.
  • Science Teachers: Graduation in Science with Chemistry as a combined subject along with one of Botany/Zoology/Biology as an additional optional subject, together with a B.Ed. in the Science method; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above.
  • Social Science Teachers: Graduation with any two of History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology and Geography as optional subjects in the Arts stream, together with a B.Ed. in the Arts method; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above. Note: Candidates applying for Social Science Teacher posts must have studied in the English medium, since instruction for this subject in the residential schools is in English medium.
  • Computer Science Teachers (RPC cadre only): Graduation in Engineering/Technology with Computer Science, Information Science, Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or Agriculture (B.Sc.) related discipline, or a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or B.Sc. with Computer Science and equivalent current qualification, together with a B.Ed. degree with Kannada studied as a subject at degree/PUC/SSLC level, or the diploma/proficiency test alternatives noted above.
  • Physical Education Teachers: A recognized university degree together with a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) degree; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above.
  • Graduate Drawing Teachers (KK cadre only): Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (B.F.A.) subject, or Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts (B.V.A.), or the Art Master certificate examination in Drawing and Painting conducted by the Technical Examination Board as per Government Order No. 27 SLV 2004 dated 21-03-2006 for candidates with specified qualifications in Fine Arts, Commercial/Applied Arts from recognized institutions; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above.
  • Diploma Drawing Teachers (KK cadre only): Diploma in Drawing/Painting/Commerce/Applied or other Fine Arts from a recognized technical examination board, as per the same Government Order; along with the Kannada proficiency requirement as above.

Additional mandatory qualification: Candidates applying for post serial numbers 1-6 (Kannada, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science Teachers) must hold a valid Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (TET, Paper-2) certificate, or a Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) certificate conducted by CBSE, to be eligible to apply.

KREIS Teacher Age Limit 2026

Age is calculated as on the last date of online application submission. As per Government Order No. ಸಿಆಸಇ 262 ಸೇನನಿ 2025 dated 29-01-2026, a one-time relaxation of 5 years has been added to the standard upper age limit under Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.

Minimum age required is 18 years. Additional age relaxation is available for government/local-body employees, ex-servicemen, National Cadet Corps full-time supervisors, Gram Samuha Parishilakar (village survey/resource person) candidates, special pay candidates, and widows, as per the detailed relaxation clauses in the official notification.

KREIS Teacher Salary / Pay Scale

  • Kannada, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer Science and Physical Education Teachers: Pay scale of ₹54,175 – ₹99,400 (2024 Revised State Pay Scale).
  • Graduate & Diploma Drawing Teachers: Pay scale of ₹49,050 – ₹92,500 (2024 Revised State Pay Scale).

Selected candidates are covered under the National Pension System (NPS) as per Government Order No. FD(SPL)04 PET 2005 dated 31-03-2006. No GPF scheme applies to society employees, and no PF scheme is applicable.

Candidates applying for more than one post can submit a single online application, but must pay the applicable fee for the first post plus an additional ₹100 per additional post applied for.

KREIS Teacher Selection Process 2026

Selection to Teacher posts is based purely on a competitive written examination; there is no interview.

  1. Competitive Written Examination – Offline OMR-based test consisting of Paper-I (General Knowledge) and Paper-II (Subject-specific paper).
  2. Document Verification – As per merit and category-wise reservation.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in the competitive exam is 35% for general category candidates; candidates scoring below this are disqualified for the selection process.
  • Negative marking: Each question has 4 options; 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

KREIS Teacher Kannada Language Test

Candidates who have not studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC level, or an equivalent level recognized by the state government, or who have not passed a Kannada test conducted by a competent authority, will be required to appear for a qualifying Kannada Language Test after the main exam. This test carries 150 marks, and candidates must secure a minimum of 50 marks to qualify; marks scored are not counted in the final merit list, and candidates scoring below the minimum become ineligible for appointment.

  2. Locate the link for KREIS Teacher Recruitment 2026 (RPC cadre or Kalyana-Karnataka cadre, as applicable) and register with your basic details.
  3. Fill in the online application form carefully with personal, educational and category details.
  4. Upload your photograph (JPEG, 50KB-200KB) and signature (JPEG, 50KB-70KB) as per the specified format.

  • Applications can be submitted online only; no offline or postal applications will be accepted.
  • Only one online application can be submitted per post; no modification, addition or correction is permitted after submission under any circumstances.
  • Candidates must ensure all eligibility-related information is filled in correctly before final submission; incomplete or incorrect information can lead to rejection at any stage, even after appointment.
  • Candidates must download and carry the admit card along with one original photo ID proof (PAN card, driving licence, Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, or government employee ID) to the exam centre; entry without ID proof will not be permitted.
  • The exam centre once allotted cannot be changed under any circumstances.
  • Furnishing false information, forged documents, or impersonation will lead to disqualification and may attract criminal and disciplinary action.
  • The mobile number and email ID provided in the application will be treated as final for all official communication.
