Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidates must satisfy the nationality/eligibility criteria as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and applicable Government of India guidelines. The notification does not specify a separate nationality clause beyond statutory eligibility under the Act.

Educational Qualification (Code-wise)

  • Code 101/103: 3-year B.Sc. with Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
  • Code 102: Matriculation with ITI in Fitter Trade (minimum 2 years duration) with Pass class.
  • Code 104: 3-year Diploma in Chemical Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Chemical Technology/Refinery and Petrochemical Engg.
  • Code 105: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engg.
  • Code 106: 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engg. or Electrical and Electronics Engg.
  • Code 107: 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation Engg./Instrumentation & Electronics/Instrumentation & Control Engg./Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engg.
  • Code 108: 3-year B.A./B.Sc/B.Com.
  • Code 109: 3-year B.Com.
  • Code 110: Class XII pass.

Minimum 50% aggregate marks are required (45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved seats), and the qualification must be from a recognized Board/University/Institute through a regular full-time course. Distance/correspondence qualifications are not eligible. A candidate with B.Sc. (Physics, Maths, Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry) can apply for only one of Code 101 or Code 103. Candidates applying for more than one trade/discipline will be summarily rejected.

Candidates whose qualifying exam result is awaited, who hold higher qualifications (BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent), who have relevant job experience of 1 year or more after acquiring the qualification, or who completed the qualification more than 5 years before the eligibility date are not eligible.

Selection Process

There is no written test for this recruitment. Selection is purely merit-based:

  1. A merit list is prepared based on the percentage of marks (aggregate of all subjects across all years/semesters) obtained in the prescribed qualification, in descending order.
  2. Preference is given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
  3. In case of a tie in marks, the candidate senior in age (date of birth) is ranked higher; if the date of birth is also the same, higher percentage in Matriculation is considered.
  4. PwBD candidates who avail relaxation in qualifying marks are considered against reserved seats based on merit within their category.
  5. Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification, followed by pre-engagement medical fitness examination.

How to Apply for IOCL Digboi Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The application process has two mandatory steps. Both must be completed for the application to be considered.

Step I: Registration and Application on NAPS/NATS Portal

  • Codes 101, 102, 103, 108, 109, 110, 111: Register and apply on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Search for the opportunity using the IOCL Refinery Unit location and select the respective trade.

Step II: Fill Additional Details on Microsoft Forms

After applying on NAPS/NATS, candidates must mandatorily submit additional details via Microsoft Forms at: https://forms.office.com/r/g0ZP2igeTa. Only one response per candidate is allowed.

Candidates must ensure the Enrollment/Student ID/Registration No. and other details match exactly between Step I and Step II. The same e-mail ID and mobile number used on NAPS/NATS must be used and kept valid for the entire apprenticeship period. Incomplete applications, or those not meeting eligibility criteria, will be treated as “Rejected.”

Stipend and Other Benefits
