Age Limit for TGPSC Assistant Director of Town Planning Recruitment 2026

Age is reckoned as on 1 July 2026. The prescribed age limit is 18 to 44 years (the upper age limit having been raised from 34 to 44 years vide G.O.Ms.No.86, G.A.(Ser.A) Department, dated 18/05/2026). Educational Qualification for Assistant Director of Town Planning

Candidates must possess the prescribed academic qualification as on the date of notification, i.e. 06 July 2026.

  • Minimum qualification of B.Arch., or B.E./B.Tech. (Civil), or B.Planning/B.Tech. (Planning), or M.A. (Geography), or M.Sc. (Geography), or M.Sc. (Geoinformatics); AND
  • A Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Town and Country Planning from a University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, State Act, or Provincial Act, or Fellowship/Associateship of the Institute of Town Planners of India, or equivalent membership of a professional Institute of Planners recognised by the University Grants Commission.

Degrees obtained through Open Universities/Distance Education mode must be recognised by the UGC/AICTE/Distance Education Bureau, as applicable. Candidates claiming an equivalent qualification will have their claim examined by an Expert Committee constituted by the Commission, whose decision is final.

Examination Centres

The Written Examination (Objective Type) will be held at Hyderabad (including HMDA Jurisdiction), Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal, and Nizamabad, or such other centres as may be decided by the Commission. Requests for change of examination centre will not be entertained.

Reservation Policy in TGPSC Recruitment 2026

  • Reservation is applicable for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Economically Weaker Sections, along with Horizontal Reservation for Persons with Disabilities, Women, and Meritorious Sportspersons, as per Rule 22 and 22(A) of the Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.
  • Applicants belonging to SC, ST, BC, EWS, or differently-abled categories who avail upper age relaxation will also be considered for Open Category (OC) vacancies.
  • No reservation benefit is given on the basis of a temporary Disability certificate.
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (Form-VIIB) is mandatory for BC candidates; in its absence, candidature is considered under Open Competition.
  • EWS reservation requires an Income Certificate for the financial year prior to the year of application, issued by a Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tahsildar.
  • SC/ST candidates must produce a Community Certificate issued by a competent Revenue Authority; applicants belonging to other States are not entitled to any reservation.
  • Meritorious sportsperson reservation (2%) is applicable as per G.O. Ms. No. 74, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (Sports) Department, dated 09/08/2012, and related orders; in the absence of eligible sportspersons, such posts are allotted to open competition.
