ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body set up in 1949 by an Act of Parliament for the regulation and development of the Chartered Accountancy profession in India, and is recognised as the world’s largest professional accounting body. ICAI has invited applications for the post of Branch In-Charge for its various branches under the Regional Councils. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 must be a Graduate from a recognized University. Educational qualifications must be from a University, Deemed University, or Institution recognized by AICTE, UGC, or the appropriate statutory authority.

Skill Sets Required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant computer applications.
  • Effective managerial, administrative, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills.

Work Experience Requirement

Only post-qualification, full-time work experience is counted. Part-time or freelancing work is not considered. Articleship, internship, or training experience that forms part of a qualification requirement is not counted towards years of work experience. Age Limit

Candidates must be between 27 and 40 years of age as on 30th June 2026 to be eligible for ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026.

Salary / Pay Scale

The compensation offered for the Branch In-Charge post varies by Branch Category, based on the minimum post-qualification experience required. Compensation includes Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and National Pension System (NPS), along with Leave Travel Concession, Gratuity, and other benefits as per service conditions.

  • Category-I Branches: Minimum 5 years of experience – Compensation of approximately ₹7.45 lakhs per annum.
  • Category-II Branches: Minimum 5 years of experience – Compensation of approximately ₹6.33 lakhs per annum.
  • Category-III Branches: Minimum 5 years of experience – Compensation of approximately ₹5.59 lakhs per annum.
  • Category-IV Branches: Minimum 3 years of experience – Compensation of approximately ₹4.84 lakhs per annum.
  • Category-V & VI Branches: Minimum 3 years of experience – Compensation of approximately ₹4.10 lakhs per annum.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹250 (Rupees Two Hundred and Fifty only), non-refundable and inclusive of all applicable taxes, through the online portal. An application will be treated as complete only after successful payment of the fee; incomplete applications are liable to be rejected.

Selection Process

The selection process for ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 consists of a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by an Interview.

Candidates can select their preferred test centre through the online portal. Centre allotment is made solely based on availability of seats and candidate preference, and no request for change of centre is entertained. ICAI reserves the right to cancel or add test cities depending on administrative feasibility.

Interview

Candidates who qualify the CBT will be called for an Interview. The minimum qualifying marks for the Interview are 30. Marks obtained in the Interview are added to the CBT marks to prepare the final merit list. Before the interview, ICAI will verify submitted document copies against originals; candidates with discrepancies will not be permitted to appear. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Required Documents

Candidates must upload all required documents in the prescribed format at the time of submitting the online application. Incomplete forms or illegible documents can lead to rejection of candidature at any stage of the recruitment process. Original educational certificates and other documents will be required for verification at the time of the Interview.

  2. Register with a valid, active email ID and mobile number.
  3. Fill in the online application form with personal, educational, and experience details.
  4. Select your preferred region and give up to three branch location preferences.
  5. Upload all required documents in the prescribed format.
  6. Pay the application fee of ₹250 online.
  7. Submit the form and save a printout for future reference.

Only online applications are accepted. Applications received by post, hand, email, or any other mode will not be considered. The last date to apply online is 19th July 2026.

Important Instructions

  • ICAI reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel vacancies, or the entire recruitment process, without assigning any reason.
  • Candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria of age and post-qualification experience as on 30th June 2026.
  • Applications with false information, suppressed facts, or misrepresentation are liable to be rejected, and candidates may be debarred from future recruitment.
  • Candidates should not send hard copies of their application, CV, or certificates to ICAI.
  • Candidates may apply for branches of one region only, giving up to three preferred branch locations, irrespective of Branch Category. Multiple or duplicate applications may lead to disqualification.
  • Selected candidates may be posted at any branch at ICAI’s discretion, irrespective of preferences given.
  • Candidates employed in Central/State Government, Public Sector Enterprises, or Autonomous Bodies must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of Interview.
  • Educational qualifications of shortlisted candidates will be verified from the respective University, Board, Institute, or Organisation.
  • Selected candidates will be on probation for one year, which may be extended for non-satisfactory performance.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
